Flexible Schedule Attracts Many
One of the many reasons people choose to begin a career in direct selling is that it offers a flexible work schedule. A person can work part-time or full-time, and can set their own goals and determine how they are going to achieve those goals.
While some choose to approach direct selling as a full-time endeavor, many see it as a fun way to earn a little extra income in their spare time.
I just finished reading an interesting article from the
The article notes that while the school year can be a busy time for teachers, the three said they wanted something to do after hours and during school breaks.
‘“It’s an opportunity to have fun, fellowship with women and earn a little extra money on the side,”’ one of the women told the Star Press, later adding, ‘“…There’s freedom to do things on your own schedule.”’
I couldn’t have said it better.

“…many see it as a fun way to earn a little extra income in their spare time.” While this is a true statement, often people misunderstand becoming a direct seller with an easy way to make money.
Just like any other business, a person will need to acquire customers and with have various tasks from marketing to prospecting to book keeping to other business responsibilities. Unfortunately, fredom of a flexible schedule does not always mean freedom of time.
This is why I believe it is critical fro the industry to be upfront on what it truly takes to succeed as a direct seller. We can’t mislead nor can we discourage. there must be a happy medium of information that speaks the truth. I believe directselling411.com is on that mission.
But as an industry, we must go many steps further and become direct selling professionals - and get certified as a direct seller.
Certification (even through a voluntary participation) helps set higher standards, enhancing competence and building upon credibility for the independent direct seller as a professional in this industry. This not only benefits the individual direct seller, but also benefits the company they represent and the whole Direct Selling Industry.
Keep in mind that Certification is not licensing, nor is it equivalent to getting a college degree. But it is a formal higher education that helps direct sellers position themselves as professional marketers in the Direct Selling Industry.
The fact is, when you learn, understand, and apply the universal fundamentals taught through a certification course, you will enhance your competence of the industry and how to succeed based on high professional standards, which creates an extra element of credibility for you in the marketplace.
Certification enhances competency and improves credibility for the direct seller. This leads to greater confidence, which will result in greater sales and more effective recruiting… provided the direct seller takes the necessary actions consistently… and that is what certification gets them to do.
