Amy, you bring up some good points. Direct selling is a great option for many people to offset the hard economic times or current personal finance issues they may be experiencing.

Direct sellers can do their part to boost the economy by continuing to do what they do best, as the income they generate is often spent locally.

I agree with #5 also. During tough times, people look to the "little things" to make them feel better and cope with the emotions a recession brings. Some pampering in the kitchen, to feel better with a few beauty supplies or to spend money on something educational for the family really goes a long way.

Direct selling can offer that to both the seller and the buyer. Entreprenuerialism is alive and well in America - recession or no recession.
